Kaamil Ahmed: How To Make Readers Care
In the context of ongoing global crises and an increasingly fatigued audience, traditional reporting often struggles to generate sustained engagement. This session explores how collaboration between journalists and researchers from diverse disciplines can provide new approaches to crisis reporting. By combining investigative methods, interdisciplinary perspectives, and storytelling techniques designed to provoke reflection and emotional connection, such collaborations can prompt audiences to consider aspects of a crisis they might otherwise overlook. The discussion focuses on examples from reporting on Gaza, the Rohingya crisis, and other humanitarian contexts, highlighting how collaborative approaches can enhance the impact and reach of journalistic work.
