Naming the Dead

In February 2013, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism announced the launch of the Naming the Dead project. It builds on their two years of work tracking US drone strikes in Pakistan, which found that 2,500 have been killed by the strikes, including at least 400 civilians.

But Naming the Dead will go further, putting names to the numbers. The website will list the names of those known to be killed by drones, in both English and Urdu, with the aim of providing a reliable database of information to inform the debate around the legitimacy of drone warfare.
